Midhir was Lord of the Sidhe of Brí Léith a famous fairy mound in Co. Westmeath.  He asks his foster son Aonghus Mac Óg, to woo the lovely Étaín for him.  This angers his first wife Fuamnach and she casts many magic spells against Étaín.   The  whole story is contained in the important legend "The Wooing of Étaín"

Midhir owns three wonderful cows and a magic cauldron.  His cows, cauldron and his daughter  Blathnat were taken as spoils of war by the heroes of the Red Branch Army of King Conchobar of Ulster and then the giant Cú Roí Mac Dairi who helped the Ulstermen in their quest takes these goods along with Blathnat to his fortress in Kerry.

In one tale Manannan burns the mound of Brí Léith and all those within.  Certainly some sort of destruction happened to it as this is a component of many tales.
