Ailill Olom was king of Munster when he saw Áine the fairy queen, he fell in love with her but he forced himself upon her and raped her.
She fought against his attack and bit off his ear and he became known as Ailill 'Bare Ear' after that. Áine did not leave the matter at that and she gained her revenge later on and had Ailill killed.
