HABITAT
: Found on the borders of fields, in low valleys, and is widely
cultivated.
DESCRIPTION : Alfalfa is a perennial plant. The erect, smooth stem grows from
an elongated taproot to a height of 12 to 18 inches and bears pinnately trifoliate leaves
with oblong-obovate or linear-oblong leaflets.
FLOWERING PERIOD : The blue or purplish flowers grow in racemes from June to
August, producing finally the characteristic spirally coiled seed pods.
PROPERTIES : Appetizer, Diuretic, Tonic.
USES : Alfalfa is commonly used as a beverage, but it can also be used
medicinally. Take it every day to improve your appetite, relive urinary and bowel
problems, eliminate retained water, and even help cure peptic ulcers.
