Turoe Stone, Co Galway.

Loughcrew, Co. Meath.

A Decorated stone refers to a stone inscribed with various designs.

A lot of these stones have to do with much larger sites and some have been moved from their original position.

Most of these stones were destroyed when Ireland was invaded by the Roman Christians.

Many of  the decorated stones were used as foundation stones for the early Christain churches therefore removing them from local culture.

Some of These Pictures are of a high quality and large size to give you the ability to look at them in close detail, but they may take some time to download on slow connections.
