The Water Sheerie |

The Water Sheerie would be seen at twilight and night-time as one crossed over the bogs.
People described seeing a light bobbing up and down which would lead unwary travellers astray if they followed it thinking it was another human being.
Another name for it was 'The Jacky Lantern'.
The Water Sheerie is related to the 'Will-o-the-Wisp' of British folklore.
As one moved closer to the light it would always move further away so that it was impossible to catch up with.
