The Roanes

The Roanes were the 'Seal-people' of Ireland.

They could shed their skin and live as humans for a while but they had to return to the sea again.

They were very gentle folk and the women were renowned for their big brown eyes.

In Scotland they were known as 'Selkies' and there are many legends concerning them from the coastal areas of the Celtic Lands.
