The old ruins of ancient raths or compounds are considered to be still ruled by the Sidhe race. There were many superstitions regarding walking over the remains of old ring-forts and lisses (court-yards). It was thought that misfortune would befall on any who disturbed the peace of the Sidhe. Also there are accounts of people becoming inexplicably lost after walking over the site of a ring-fort.
