MEDICINAL PART : Plant.
HABITAT : Found, to the dismay of many, almost everywhere.
DESCRIPTION : The dandelion is a perennial plant. The oblong or spatulate,
irregularly dentate or pinnatifid leaves grow in a rosette from the milky taproot, which
also send up one or more naked flower stems, each terminating in a single yellow flower.
The familiar puffball that succeeds the flower is a globular cluster of achenes, each of
which is fitted with a parachute-like tuft.

Tonic.
Uses: The
leaves made into a tea acts as a diuretic and can help eliminate gall and kidney
stones, it also replaces any potassium that might be lost.
The root, when dried,
roasted and
ground like coffee, is used to make a coffee substitute, much like chicory root.
The fresh sap can be used for removing warts.
It must be applied fresh each day for several weeks for the wart to drop off,
but is a painfree way of getting rid of them.

To find out how long you will live blow the seeds off the head of a Dandelion.
You will
live as many years as there are seeds left on the head.
To tell time: blow three times at
the seed head. The number of seeds left is the hour.
Call on Diancecht while using for healing,
especially urinary problems.
Call on Brigid for Divination.
Mythology
Used by 'Fairy Doctors' and herbal healers
to cure a variety of maladies, particularly liver complaints.
The Leprechauns often played tricks on mortals using fields of flowers such as dandelions to
confuse them.
