Name: Legannany Portal Chamber / Tomb.
Location: Legannany townland, Dolmen Road, Castlewellan, Co. Down, Ireland.
Access: By Road with small car park at the bottom of the lane, with a small uphill 2min walk.
Description: A tripod dolmen, The long flat capstone is balanced elegantly on three unusually tall and thin upright stones, widely spaced an located on the south-west slope of Slieve Croob. The entrance to the chamber was from the south side between the two very tall portal stones. The portal chamber was covered in a stone and earthen cairn and trace of this are found surrounding the site.A slab of stone lying in the middle of the chamber may have always been there or it may have came from the missing cairn that covered the chamber.Traditional Lore: Linked with the Irish Goddess Áine.
