Name: Galloon Celtic Cross
Location: Galloon graveyard, Galloon Townland, County Fermanagh, Ireland.
Access: By road with parking by upper lough Erin, just beside the Graveyard
Description: A cross base, with missing cross piece, featuring a multitude of carvings, The surviving shafts are carved on multiple faces — scenes from Old and New Testament stories on some faces, and geometric/zoomorphic motifs on others (one face noted as having a head-figure turned down). Weathering has damaged some details.
Traditional Lore: Early reports describe four cross-related items (two complete shafts plus a head fragment and a ring fragment); today two decorated shafts remain and other pieces survive as fragments.
Information: Galloon was an early monastic site traditionally associated with St Tighernach / St Tiernan (6th century). The crosses are medieval monuments likely produced in the early medieval period (broadly 9th–12th century tradition for high crosses in Ulster).
