Fathach was the poet of the Fir Bolg at the time of the first battle of Moytura.
He erected a pillar known as 'Fathach's Pillar' on which to stand and watch the proceedings of the battle and take account of all that transpired.
He made a lamentation as he saw that the Fir Bolg were suffering such heavy losses.
