       Legannany Portal Chamber Info & Photo Gallery |  |  Name: Legannany Portal Chamber / Tomb.   Location: Legannany townland, Dolmen Road, Castlewellan, Co. Down, Ireland.     Access: By Road with small car park at the bottom of the lane, with a small uphill 2min walk.   Description: A tripod dolmen, The long flat capstone is balanced elegantly on three unusually tall and thin upright stones, widely spaced an located on the south-west slope of Slieve Croob. The entrance to the chamber was from the south side between the two very tall portal stones. The portal chamber was covered in a stone and earthen cairn and trace of this are found surrounding the site. A slab of stone lying in the middle of the chamber may have always been there or it may have came from the missing cairn that covered the chamber.  Traditional Lore: Linked with the Irish Goddess Áine.     Information:  Measurements:  Just over 3 meters long with the tall stones being around 2 meters tall
