Miach was a proponent of the method of natural healing of a person's own body rather than using prosthetics and artificial devices.  He managed to completely heal King Nuada's arm making the king whole.  His father had fitted King Nuada with an arm of silver, and was jealous that his son was a better physician than he was.

Dian Cécht was so jealous of Miach that he killed him and all the healing herbs grew from his grave which his sister Airmid then categorized and named according to their healing properties.
